Class description

Long-Form Improv & Storytelling

This ten-week course explores the art of long-form improvisational theater, training students to use collaborative creativity and bold onstage choices to conjure compelling and consistent narratives with rich characters and dramatic turns. Students will learn to discover a story—rather than invent it—by trusting the scene, their instincts, and each other.

Each week focuses on a core concept of long-form improv, taught through exercises, games, and coached scenework. Students will perform in small groups, full ensembles, and even solo—always unscripted, crafting their own stories in real time. The course culminates in a final challenge: a one-act play created entirely through improvisation. Students will write, direct, and perform simultaneously, using everything they've learned.

Open to students with some theatre experience, this course complements GEST's traditional acting classes. Ideal for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of storytelling, spontaneity, and stagecraft

Brian Bonafilia

Brian is an American-Swedish improviser and actor who has been performing in Gothenburg for over twelve years. He is a frequent contributor to local theatre festivals as a performer, coach, and technician.
