Our courses vary in length, level, and age group, and details are provided on the individual course pages.
- Adult courses: Open to individuals aged 18 and above.
- Youth courses: Open to children and teens aged 8–17. Registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
All courses are taught in English unless otherwise stated.
Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon successful payment, provided the participant meets the stated age and level requirements, unless otherwise specified. In certain cases — including, but not limited to, specific courses such as the Intensive Advanced Acting Course — placement is at GEST’s discretion and may depend on factors such as previous experience, age, and suitability for the group. Any specific placement requirements will be clearly outlined on the relevant course information page.
4.2 Registration and Payment
- All registrations are made online and require full payment at checkout to confirm a spot. A confirmation email will be sent once payment has been successfully processed. For participants under 18, registration must be completed by a parent or guardian.
- A non-refundable service fee may apply and is shown at checkout.
- Confirmation will be sent by email.
- Registration is non-refundable unless the terms below apply.
4.3 Right of Withdrawal (Ångerrätt)- during cooling-off period
In accordance with the Swedish Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (2005:59), you have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days from the date of booking and payment. If you cancel within this cooling-off period, you will receive a full refund.
If the course starts during the 14-day cooling-off period and you have agreed to this by completing the booking, you are entitled to a partial refund. In this case, GEST is entitled to retain a proportion of the fee equivalent to the value of the classes already delivered up until the time of cancellation.
To cancel within the 14-day period, you must notify us by email at info@gest.se clearly stating your intention to cancel. Refunds will be processed via the original payment method and may take up to 4 weeks to appear.
4.4 Cancellations After the Cooling-Off Period
Cancellations after the 14-day period are not eligible for a refund. By enrolling and paying, you are committing to the full course fee, even if you later decide not to attend. Missed classes are not refundable or transferable.
4.5 Cancellation Due to Illness or Relocation
If you are unable to continue the course due to:
- Long-term illness (more than 3 consecutive weeks, supported by a valid medical certificate), or
- Relocation to another city (supported by documentation),
You may apply for a partial refund of the remaining course fee. A SEK 300 administration fee will be deducted. Refunds are calculated from the date the certificate indicates your inability to continue. Please notify us as soon as possible by email and attach the relevant documentation.
4.6 Course Changes or Cancellation by GEST
If GEST cancels a course or any part of it before it begins, or if we change the schedule in a way that prevents participation, a full or partial refund will be issued as applicable.
We are not liable for cancellations due to events beyond our control (e.g., illness, weather, force majeure).
In the unlikely event that there is a low number of signups for a given course, GEST reserves the right to reschedule the course for a later start date in order to ensure there are enough participants for all participants to get the greatest benefit.
4.7 Attendance and Absences
Missed sessions are not refundable or transferable. Absence does not count as cancellation.
In Intermediate or Advanced courses (both adult and youth), if a participant misses two or more sessions, continued participation may be reviewed by the course instructor.
4.8 Media Consent
During the course, GEST may occasionally take photographs or video recordings for use in marketing and publicity, including on our website, social media, printed materials, and funding applications. No personal information will be linked to these images unless you have given explicit consent.
At checkout, you will be asked to consent to media use by ticking a checkbox. Participation is entirely voluntary. If you do not consent, we will make every effort to exclude you from any photos or videos.
You can withdraw your media consent at any time by contacting us via email.
4.9. Code of Conduct for our courses
All students must follow the GEST Code of Conduct (below paragraph 7), which is sent prior to the course and available here. GEST reserves the right to remove any student who breaches the code. No refund will be given in such cases.
5. Privacy, Personal Data & Marketing Consent
- GEST processes your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and applicable national data protection laws. When you register for a course, we collect personal information such as your name, contact details, and registration history. This data is used strictly for administrative purposes, course-related communication, and to deliver the services you have requested.
- All relevant communication — including emails — may be documented to ensure service quality and fulfil contractual obligations. Your personal data will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent, unless required by law.
- By registering, you consent to receiving important course information and occasional newsletters or marketing emails from GEST. You may withdraw this consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link provided in the communication or by contacting us directly.
- You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time. Additionally, under applicable law, you may request — once per calendar year — a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- For full details, please refer to our Privacy Policy: [Insert link].
6. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If you are dissatisfied with your course experience, please contact us at info@gest.se or 031 425065 as soon as possible. If we are unable to resolve the matter, you may contact Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes, via https://www.arn.se.
7. Code of Conduct for Courses
All students must follow the GEST Code of Conduct (below), which is sent prior to the course and available here below.
GEST Code of Conduct for courses
Please read and follow these guidelines during your time at GEST. If professional conduct is compromised, GEST reserves the right to refuse or remove participants from the course.
1. Please note that the doors to the rehearsal space open approximately 10 minutes before the lesson. Please make sure that you arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins as the tutor has the right to refuse any late entry to the class.
2. Please prepare any scenes or coursework that has been assigned. It is your responsibility to ensure you are fully prepared for each session.
3. If you will be late or cannot attend a class/workshop or private lesson, please contact the tutor so that they can adjust their lesson accordingly. In our Intermediate and Advanced courses, if a student fail to attend 2 or more classes without proper notification the teacher has a right to remove participants from the course or workshop. Under these circumstances no refund will be given.
4. Do remember that there are other courses, productions and events going on at GEST and there will often be other performances happening during the time of your course. Please be considerate and mindful of each other and throw away any trash in the bins provided and do not leave any personal belongings on the premises.
5. Please do not eat food in the studios, on stage or in our rehearsal rooms.
6. Alcohol and other drugs are prohibited on our premises. This also applies to intoxication of any kind. Participants suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol during lesson time or on GEST premises will be removed from the course.
7. No violence, abuse, or harassment of any form will be tolerated on the premises. Anyone who exercising these things towards others will be denied to continue on with the courses and legal action will be taken. This applies both to participants and teachers in our courses, workshops, private lessons and other activities at GEST.
8. GEST takes no responsibility for any items brought to, or left on the premises.
9. Participation is at your own risk. GEST is not liable for personal injury or damage. Students are expected to act in a responsible manner in order to mitigate the likelihood of such injuries/damages.
10. Do not bring uninvited guests. Only registered or pre-approved participants may attend classes or sessions. Uninvited guests are not allowed. However, for underage students, if necessary, a parent or legal guardian may stay during the session, provided this has been arranged in advance with GEST and the course tutor
11. We ask participants to treat these course sessions with professionalism, and respect the other participants, tutor and GEST staff. At the discretion of the tutor or any other GEST representative, participants whose behaviour is deemed to be detrimental to the quality of the session for the majority may be asked to leave a session and in worst case scenario will not be able to attend the rest of the course. Under these circumstances no refund will be given.
Thank you for your participating at Gothenburg English Studio Theatre. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us on +46 (0) 31 42 50 65 or you can email us at cld@gest.se.
