Class description

Youth Drama Club is a 10-week acting course for both non-native and native English speakers. Through improvisation, games, role-play and text work, we teach acting skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Each age group has a class size of about 16 students, and the course culminates in a performance on stage.

Drama is a fun, creative activity that can be offered to young people of all abilities. The imaginative and playful environment of the Drama Club helps young people develop self-confidence, and performance, team-working and problem-solving skills. Led by GEST’s English speaking professional actors or drama practitioners, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about what happens both on and off stage.

Our Youth Drama Club courses are suitable for both beginners and intermediate students (those who have previously attended GEST Youth Drama Club).

Teachers

Christa Engelbrecht

Christa has extensive experience in theatre, film, singing and voice over work in Sweden and the United Kingdom and maked her debut with GEST playing ME in Do You Understand Me? She has been a recurring teacher at GEST both with Adult acting and the Youth Drama Club. Christa was born in South Africa and raised in Namibia, before moving to London to study at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University London. During her 14 years in London, she performed on various stages throughout London and starred in short films that were screened at film festivals like the Liverpool Biennial and the Raindance Film Festival.
